Barbara W. Buker

Barbara W. Buker, 90, of New Durham, NH, passed away on Sunday April 26, 2015, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness.

She was born on June 13, 1924, in Melrose, MA, to the late John W. and Josephine A. (Parker) Mcletchie.

Barbara was raised and educated in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School. She received a B.S. in Science and Physical Education from Sargeant College in Boston, now known as Boston University. Later, she received a B.S. in Elementary Education from St. Louis University. She married the love of her life, Harold V. Buker, Jr., on August 19, 1946.

In 1964, Harold, Barbara and her family moved to Gray Summit, Missouri, and she started a kindergarten program out of her house. She was asked to teach at Coleman Elementary, where she worked for many years.

She loved doing arts and crafts, and was involved in many craft clubs in Missouri. She was an outstanding quilter, spinner and sewer. She loved to garden, read books, travel and spend time with her family and friends.

Along with her parents, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Jean Stevens and Dorothy Crowe.

Members of Barbara’s family include her loving husband of 69 years, Harold V. Buker, Jr. of New Durham, NH; two sons, Scott Buker and his wife, Margaret, of Merrimack, NH, and Kim Buker and his wife, Rita, of Center Sandwich, NH; two daughters, Wendy Rodgers and her husband, Dave, of Wolfeboro, NH, and Holly Buker of Wentworth, NH; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 7 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack, NH, on Wednesday May 20, 2015, at 1 PM. Burial of her urn will follow in Last Rest Cemetery.
