Shaw-Reeves leaves lasting legacy in Bedford

To the Editor:

Joan Shaw-Reeves, the co-president of the Bedford Historical Society, passed Wednesday, January 28, 2015, after a valiant battle with cancer. Joan was a positive influence in many people’s lives, and her persistence and steadfast attitude in helping the Town of Bedford to have a community center were inspiring. For the last five years, Joan’s endless pursuits included working with construction crews, making sure the work was being done in a timely manner, meeting with contractors, and raising funds. These represent her most significant contributions to make the Steven-Buswell Community Center a reality for the town of Bedford. Her last request was to keep the dream going so that the community center will become a reality.

In her memory, the endless endeavors, inspiration and motivation she constantly displayed were ultimately for the betterment of our town of Bedford. We need to honor her legacy and continue the work on the community center. If you would like to make a donation in her memory, please visit the Bedford Historical Society website, and on the left side of the site, you will see a Donations link. Click on it. Donations in memory of Joan made specifically to the Stevens-Buswell Community Center would be most appreciated. We will all miss her.
