Thanks for support of golf tournament

To the Editor:

Over 150 golfers enjoyed a beautiful summer day to participate in the 29th annual Bishop Guertin Alumni Griffin Memorial Golf Tournament, held Friday, Aug. 14, at Passaconaway Country Club in Litchfield.

The tournament featured a four-player scramble format. The weather conditions enhanced the ideal course conditions. Prizes were awarded as follows:


1st place, scoring 59 (12 under par): Marc Berube ’81, Paul Denner, Sean Parnell and Tommy Ethier ’17.

2nd place, scoring 59 (12 under par): Gregg Hartman, David Buffum, Jerry Ruocco and Paul Brassard.

3rd place, scoring 61 (10 under par): Dan Edwards ’82, Mike Soule ’82, Marc Chateauneuf ’82 and Mike Santos ’82.


1st place, scoring 72 (1 over par): Susan Barracchini ’82, Tricia Shea ’82, Sheila Soucy and M.J. Cormier ’79.


Men’s long drive (Hole 6): Tommy Ethier ’17.

Women’s long drive (Hole 6): Tracy Ryan.

Straightest drive (Hole 1): Loren Dubois ’81.

Putting contest: Tom Brown.

Closest to pin (Hole 4): Bill Francoeur, 5 feet, 8 inches.

Closest to pin (Hole 11): David Condon, 5-10.

Closest to pin (Hole 13): Mike Lenzi ’75, 3-2.

Closest to pin (Hole 17): John Egan ’80, 3-4.
