Miss Bedford contest back in hands of town residents
To the Editor:
On Saturday, Sept. 19, the 2016 Miss Bedford will be crowned at McKelvie Intermediate School. The title winner will go on to compete for the title of Miss New Hampshire in spring 2016.
This year will be the first time in recent history the Miss Bedford program will be held in Bedford under the direction of Bedford residents.
We are very excited to bring the local title back to Bedford and are thrilled with the response from Bedford residents and businesses. To date, Great New Hampshire Restaurants, Anagnost Investments, The Backroom, Melissa and Andy Crews, Gigi and Jeff Oxman, and Sarah and CJ Thomas have given generously to the program. These much-appreciated and needed donations fund scholarships awarded to the winner and contestants.
And the competition is vigorous. Contestants must prove themselves in an extensive interview, talent competition, on-stage question, and evening and lifestyle wear.
In addition, contestants serve as volunteers for various causes through their chosen platform. The titleholder will also serve as a goodwill ambassador of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Individuals wishing to compete in the program can find information at www.missnh.org.
Individuals and businesses wishing to make a tax-deductible donation to the program can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Miss Bedford will make her first of many appearances at Bedford’s Old Town Day on Saturday, Sept. 26. We are so excited for all the program will do for our town and hope you’ll join us in welcoming Miss Bedford 2016 into our community.
