Scouts to collect food for Bedford pantry

To the Editor:

Citizens of Bedford, we hope you will again partner with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts during our annual Scouting for Food Drive. This year a portion of your donations will go towards provisioning the new Bedford Food Pantry. The Bedford Food Pantry was established by a coalition of five local churches and will be located in the Bedford Presbyterian Church.

On Nov. 7, the Scouts will distribute a collection tag to your front door or mailbox. On Nov. 14, the Scouts will return to collect the bags filled with non-perishable canned goods. The food is then provided to more than 200 food pantries, soup kitchens and food banks throughout the state including the Bedford food pantry.

Scouting for Food remains one of our largest state food collection drives, collecting more than 12,000 non-perishable food items annually. Scouting for Food has been a huge success throughout the years due to your kindness and generosity for those in need. Items urgently needed are peanut butter, tuna, canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, stews and pasta.

We thank you in advance for your support. Should you have any questions about Scouting for Food, please contact
