Ayotte working to combat opioid crisis

To the Editor:

Thanks to Sen. Kelly Ayotte, New Hampshire and our country are now one step closer to seeing the opioid crisis eventually become history. Kelly fought hard for over two years to pass a major piece of bipartisan legislation that she introduced, and she was finally successful. I understand that this bill does a variety of things to push back against heroin and prescription drug abuse – and in new and innovative ways. We need new solutions, based in facts and evidence, to fight the heroin crisis. I was particularly glad to see that Kelly’s bill focuses on long-term recovery for addicts. Addiction is a disease, not a choice, and treating it as such will make a major difference in our efforts to solve this problem.
