Lyndeborough Town Common important
The little town of Lyndeborough has done a commendable job with its little Town Common, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. It looks beautiful because a group of caring citizens made sure it did, and it was absolutely the appropriate place to move the town’s World War I and World War II/Korean War memorials that had to leave the town library grounds because of the building’s expansion. The addition of memorial bricks, purchased by townspeople and engraved, was a terrific idea and adds to the concept of posterity.
Spaces like this are important to communities of all sizes, and that is something we don’t always recognize. Space can be beautiful, demonstrative and calming. Lyndeborough’s Common proves that.
