A good sign at Milford High

If you read this week’s story on the rings designed by and for members of the Milford High School girls basketball team, you would have learned that the engineering class at the high school has had a 40 percent female enrollment for several years.

Two things about that:

Engineering is still considered a “non-traditional” class from girls and women but perhaps MHS is helping lead the way to revolutionizing that discipline in high school, college, and life.

And the class teacher, Frank Xydias, must be doing something right to attract so many young women to such a non-traditional study. Teachers play an important role in convincing students that they can do something and clearly Mr. X, as he’s called, has that talent down.
