Holiday Toy Store needs us

At this time of the year, folks who celebrate Christmas are thinking about what to buy for people they love, and maybe wondering what people will buy for them.

It’s fun, isn’t it? Unless you can’t afford it.

Even in this wealthy nation, there are people who don’t have the money to buy gifts, who worry about how they can ensure that their kids can have a nice Christmas.

That’s where the Holiday Toy Store comes in. At the store, qualified parents or guardians "shop" for gifts for their children from toys purchased with funds donated by the community.

That’s us. We’re the help that the Holiday Toy Store, and these not-so-well-off families, need to make sure Christmas is fun for their kids, too.

So, in the spirit of the season, donate to the store by writing a check and sending it to Holiday Toy Store, P.O. Box 6, Amherst, NH 03031.

You can also donate a new, unwrapped toy by dropping it off at one of the donation boxes in Amherst, Milford and Mont Vernon. They include:

In Mont Vernon: Village School.

In Milford: Shaw’s, Hampshire Hills, Share Outreach, Heron Pond School, People’s Bank on Nashua Street, Jacques School, Milford Middle School and Wadleigh Memorial Library.

In Amherst: Black Forest Cafe, Moulton’s, Amherst Town Library, Walmart, Clark & Leighton, Longhorn Steakhouse and Spinal Corrective Center.
