You’ve got the power to rescue

Here is something you absolutely should do this weekend:

Get to the Power of Angels, Kitty Angels Fundraiser at Treasures Antiques, Collectibles & More on Saturday and/or Sunday, both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is a yearly event – we’ve mentioned it before and The Cabinet always carries articles about it – that raises money for the no-kill cat shelter called Kitty Angels thanks to the folks at Treasures who get help from many others including the Amherst Animal Hospital that will send staff members to the event to answer questions about cats or any other animal.

And the best part is, you can not only help to raise money for the shelter in Tyngsboro, Mass., but you can adopt a kitty. And you should. Our world is overpopulated with unwanted cats and kittens and too often, they are either left to fend for themselves or put to death.

Here is some information from the website www.kittyangels.org:

“Kitty Angels is a no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned cats, furnishing them with treatment for injuries or other health problems, and placing them into life-long, loving homes with compatible owners.”

The organization also screens the cats for infectious diseases and takes care of spaying and neutering, and gives them their shots.

And of course they have photos of cats.

Treasures makes sure the weekend, while all about cats, isn’t just about cats. There will be entertainment, 100 vendors at a flea market, even a talk by an herbalist/environmental educator.

Rick and Sherry Tobin’s annual event has so far raised $70,000 for Kitty Angels and can raise a lot more this year with your help.

So go. Check out the cats. Check out the flea market. Listen to the music. Have fun. Oh, and come home with a kitty.
