Congrats to Anthony Romano, Amherst Middle School Spelling Bee champ

To the Editor:

Congratulations to all of the 16 spelling bee finalists who participated in the Amherst Middle School Spelling Bee on Thursday, Jan. 9.

Spellers went 13 rounds, spelled 195 words – and, the winning word was “presumptuous.”

The AMS champion speller is sixth-grader Anthony Romano. Runner up is a very impressive eighth-grade young lady who made it a tough competition.

Anthony will go to the State Spelling Bee at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord on March 1. Family, teachers, friends and peers all wish Anthony much luck.

Whatever happens … Anthony is the 2014 AMS Spelling Bee champion.
