Thank you for continuing to support the Blue Blue Milford

To the Editor:

For six consecutive years, Milford voters have stepped up to fund their community’s share of the cost to provide a nonemergency handicapped-accessible regional transportation option to area residents.

On behalf of the Souhegan Valley Transportation Collaborative and the residents who use the Souhegan Valley Rides bus service – thank you to each and every one of the Milford residents who voted on March 11 in support of the Blue Bus! We are humbled by the 74 percent affirmative vote.

As of March 1, Souhegan Valley Rides has provided a total of 13,671 rides and Milford residents have used 10,009 of those rides. That date also marked another milestone for the bus service – the official start of a pilot program in Wilton.

We also extend a big thank you to our neighbors in Amherst, Brookline and Hollis for their support of the bus service since its inception in 2008. Another big thank you goes out to the Selectmen and residents of Mont Vernon and Wilton for their support and interest in joining this collaborative effort. The Mont Vernon Blue Bus pilot program started last September and is on track for success.

By working together, our communities are meeting the need for reliable and accessible transportation resources and are continuing our strong tradition of neighbor helping neighbor.
