Gleason’s service to Amherst appreciated

To the Editor:

Several weeks ago, Brian Gleason, resigned from his position as Amherst’s Director of Emergency Services.

Brian served the town of Amherst with pride and distinction for over 14 years. He was well respected by colleagues from around the state. He brought a level of professionalism and dedication not only to EMS but also to the town he worked for. No town could ask for a better employee and Amherst and the squad were lucky to have had him.

Brian’s dedication to his job and to the town of Amherst should not go unnoticed or unappreciated. He, like other town employees throughout the years, were part of the Amherst family. No matter where they called home, the town became part of their DNA and the citizens their friends.

As a former selectman, I knew that without these folks, our town could not function as it does. They often went above and beyond their job descriptions. They were and are a group of people that should be recognized and thanked and always treated kindly by the people that also call Amherst home.
