Support free full-day kindergarten

To the Editor:

Last week (Jan. 17), Mayor Marty Walsh gave his annual State of the City address to the people of Boston. He revealed that he is planning for FREE pre-K for all 4-year-olds in Bean Town.

We in Milford should be supporting our young working families. Husbands and wives must both work to make ends meet in today’s times.

The town and schools should maximize the resources that are available to include full-day kindergarten. We are paying high property taxes here in Milford, and we should find sufficient money in the budget to support FREE public kindergarten for 5-year-olds.

Our young children are our precious resources and hope for tomorrow. Let’s prioritize the money available to include their welfare in the status quo. Lobby our legislators to fully fund full-day kindergarten. Young families need to speak out and make their voices heard. Everyone benefits in the long run from inclusive educational policy.
