Polar Plunge raises more than $15K
To the Editor:
On March 26 at Seabrook Beach, where the air temperature was 38, the water temperature was 37 and a nippy breeze, and with Ally and Cooper looking on, our family, Bill Doucette and Dave Beati hit the ocean for the ninth annual Polar Plunge to help out Ally Teixeira and Cooper Doucette with some much needed upgrades in their lives.
Thanks to the many donors who support us year in and year out, as well as the new donors we so desperately need. Where would we be without all of you?
Thanks to Geo Scannell for hosting the event at his palace; photographer Kevin Durkin; Timmy Brown, who donated T-shirts so that the proceeds can go to the kids; Johnny Carolyn, Jerry Flynn; Mr. Brewski (voted most aptly dressed); and Winky McCarty for their tremendous support as they cheered us on with their gloves, hats and long underwear on.
This year’s donations, grants, labor and supply gifts will total between $15,000 and $20,000. This amount was aided by a grant from Eastern Bank, a donation of hand controls for Cooper’s van, and a contractor, MCL Builders, who with his group of subcontractors will gut and then remodel Ally’s condominium bathroom at NO charge! Thank you, Mike and friends. Unbelievable.
I’m truly blessed and humbled at the support from all of you. Thanks so much to my Hollis and Lowell friends who believe in us, believe in Ally and Cooper, and try to lend a hand to those in need.
A special thanks to Project Walk, where Ally and Cooper get their therapy, whose caring and talented therapists keep hopes alive and create miracles on a weekly basis.
