Strawberry festival a success

To the editor:

On Sunday, June 26, The Hollis Woman’s Club and the Hollis Town Band co-sponsored the 62nd annual Hollis Strawberry Festival in historic Monument Square in Hollis. A big thank you to all of the patrons, loyal followers and new ones, as well, who came to enjoy strawberry shortcake and sundaes while listening to the wonderful music being performed by the Hollis Town Band.

Many people helped make this a successful day for the two organizations. Thank you to Brookdale Fruit Farm and Lull Farm for providing the especially juicy strawberries and for the use of Brookdale’s refrigerated storage facility. Once again, Doc Davis was our ice cream vendor who also provided the freezer during the festival.

Also, thank you to everyone who supported the Hollis Town Band’s annual raffle to lead the band in the “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

The Hollis Strawberry Festival had many supporters and contributors who generously helped to underwrite the festival: Hollis Veterinary Hospital, Drs. Helfman, Lasky & Assoc., Hollis Family Chiropractic, Edward Klopfer, DDS, Farm Design, Hollis Auto Service, Granite State Pressure Washing, Udelsman and Associates, Harvest Market, Sport Nature Riding and Recreation, Dr. Arthur Lyford, DMD, Technology Garden, Morin’s Landscaping, Jim LaPeer, Luter Carpentry, Lauren Motch Interiors – designer Lauren Luter and Hannaford Market.

We are also grateful for the hundreds of volunteer hours donated by the HWC members and to the family and friends of members from both organizations. We also want to thank the HBHS National Honor Society and the First Robotics Team who helped hull over 300 quarts of strawberries, bake the shortcakes and work at the festival.

Proceeds from the festival will go toward scholarships and to local charitable organizations.
