A special thanks to Sen. Avard

As a forester based in southern New Hampshire, I would like to thank Sen. Avard for co-sponsoring and supporting Senate Bill 129 – NH’s Clean Energy Jobs Act. New Hampshire has been using wood chips from forest thinnings, land clearing and landscaping to generate electricity for over 30 years. As a forester, I see first-hand how New Hampshire’s wood chip power plants allow us to practice sustainable forest management, which benefits the landowners, the general public, and most importantly the forest. The use of chips to generate power and heat creates local jobs and a destination for low grade material that would have to be brought to landfills or burned as brush, releasing carbon into the air with no benefit to anyone. Senate Bill 129 supports jobs, forestry and our forests. Thank you.
