2014 Sports Year in Review: Top 10
No. 1: The Bedford boys lacrosse team won its third championship in a row, and extended its winning streak to 61 games, the longest current streak in the nation.
No. 2: The Bedford boys hockey team also capped a perfect season with its third championship in a row. The Bulldogs started off this season 4-0 in Division I to stretch their unbeaten streak to 34 games in division.
No. 3: The Bedford girls lacrosse team upset No. 2 Hanover and No. 1 Windham on its way to winning the program’s first championship.
No. 4: The Bedford boys tennis team captured its fifth straight title, and also had the singles champion (Dan Soucy) and the doubles champion (Soucy and Andrew Allen).
No. 5: The Bedford boys and girls track teams were among the top performers both indoor and out. The girls won their second straight outdoor title and finished second indoor, while the boys were runners-up in both seasons.
No. 6: The Bedford wrestling team finished its last season in Division II by winning the division championship, with six wrestlers winning individual titles.
No. 7: The Bedford girls basketball team was undefeated (21-0) going into the Division I title game, but lost on a late basket to Londonderry. It was the second year in a row the Bulldogs reached the final, winning it all in 2013.
No. 8: The Bedford football reached went 11-1 and won the North Conference on the way to its first appearance in the Division I championship game.
No. 9: Other championship teams were golf, Alpine boys skiing and boys swimming.
No. 10: Other runner-ups were girls tennis and girls soccer.
