Streak snapped

The Salem High School boys hockey team scored three goals in the third period to break a tie and held on for a 5-2 win over Bedford on Saturday at the ICenter in Salem.

The loss was the first for Bedford (9-1) in Division I, and also snapped the Bulldogs 37-game winning streak in division play. The Bulldogs had gone 37-0-1 since losing to Spaulding on Feb. 12, 2013.

Matt Giroux and Jay Roberto each had a goal for Bedford while Alex Abad and Jacob Rioux each had an assist. Alec Lindberg made 25 saves, including eight in the first period that helped keep it scoreless.

Salem scored two goals in 10 seconds to open the second, but the Bulldogs responded before the second intermission to tie it.
