U13B girls open season
The Bedford girls U13B lacrosse team held on to post a 9-8 win against Cocheco on April 14. Julian Bell lead the scoring with three goals while Alex Doldo and Marie Hamill both contributed two goals apiece. Ashley Bobotas and MacKenzie Muir both had one goal each.
Kevynn Knoettner and Elizabeth Zimmerman both played a solid game in goal for the Cannons. The defense stayed strong while Cocheco tried to come back late in the game. Defensive efforts were led by Kaityln Belz, Lindsay Mello, Maggie Thompson, Casey Benson and Riley Skinner.
The girls suffered their first loss of season with a 12-2 loss to Bow. Kaitlyn Belz posted both goals for the Bedford Cannons. Mackenzie Muir had an amazing game on defense against a tough Bow offense with many steals and forced turnovers. Riley Skinner also played great defense in the game and thwarted many attempted Bow shots.
Kevynn Knoettner racked up six saves in goal in the first half and rookie lacrosse goalie Kendall Cassidy had four saves for the Cannons in the second half.
U11 girls win two
The Bedford girls U11 lacrosse team won both games last weekend. On Saturday, the girls defeated Hollis Brookline by a score of 14-3. Regan O’Brien lead all scorers with four goals and three assists, and Eli Enners and Sydney Grogan had big games also with three goals a piece. Also contributing on offense with goals were Bella and Lena Raduazzo, Annabel Pothuru, Lauren Thomas and Tally Coulter. Elsie Munsterteiger was solid in goal with a tight defense from Abigail Weidner, Emma Hauser and Teagan Steele.
In the second game, Bedford defeated Goffstown 7-5. Elsie Munsterteiger put in a strong performance in goal blocking a key free shot. Sophia LeGoullon, Ava Plage and Kayla Leblanc played aggressive the entire game. Scoring was lead by Sydney Grogan with two goals, Eli Enners (two goals, two assists), Regan O’Brien with one goal and oneassist and goals each from Lena Raduazzo and Tally Coulter.
The Bedford Youth Lacrosse program (Bedford Cannons) is now accepting applications for scholarship awards. Candidates should have had some participation in the Bedford Youth Lacrosse program. Go to www.bedfordcannons.org to download an application.
U11 boys get two wins
The Bedford Athletic Club boys U11 soccer team started the spring season with two wins. In the first game, they earned a hard fought 2-1 win over Litchfield. Josh Beaton scored the first goal for the Bulldogs to tie the score at 1-1. Three minutes later Kyle Powers scored the game-winner off a cross from Beaton. Sam O’Leary played great on goal for Bedford.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead on goals from Gabe Lucy and Kule Powers. After Hooksett tied it at 2-2 at half, Andrew Johnson scored to give Bedford the lead 3-2. Gabe Lucy scored the game winner to give the Bulldogs the 4-3 win. Joe Mikol played great defense and Logan Goldberg played great in goal.
The Bedford Men’s Softball League is looking for players over 30 years old. Players must live or work in Bedford. To sign up, go to www.bmsl.net.
The Bedford Basketball League offers a scholarship for up to three high school seniors each year planning to pursue post-secondary education in college or vocational programs, and who demonstrate strong character traits consistent with the mission of the Bedford Basketball League. Scholarships are offered for full time study at any accredited post-secondary institution of the student’s choice.
The scholarship will be awarded to candidates that demonstrate character traits consistent with the mission of the BBL.
The BBL mission statement is: “The Bedford Basketball League encourages a fun, safe learning environment for players of all abilities and promotes development of their athletic skills, character, sportsmanship, and teamwork through participation in both recreational and competitive basketball with the goal of enhancing life skills both on and off the court.”

BBL annual meeting
The Bedford Basketball League will hold its annual meeting on Monday, May 11 at 6 p.m. at the Riddle Brook School. All interested members are welcome to attend.
