The Bedford third grade girls travel team had a thrilling 13-8 win over Litchfield in overtime on Sunday.

Audey Ferlan, Kate Allard and Nellie Munsterteiger all contributed baskets in regulation play. With Bedford trailing by one point, Elsie Thomas scored a foul shot to put the game into overtime. Mckenna O’Connell provided great ball handling at the point guard position while Julia St. Hilaire, Lila Stein, Brooke Langianese and Karina Kamineni all contributed to a strong defensive effort by Bedford.

The Bedford girls came out strong in overtime with Ferlan, Munsterteiger and Allard scoring three quick baskets to give Bedford the lead and eventually the win.

Third and Fourth Grade

Bedford Friends of Rec 18,

Dental Arts of Bedford 8

Bedford Friends of Recreation defeated Dental Arts of Bedford 18-8 on Saturday. Kate Mikol led all scorers with 12 points and Elif Cakir added six for BFOR. Kailyn Plage, Ella Andree and Kelseigh O’Neil distributed the ball well while Erica Rice and Aubrey Beyer played great defense in the win.

Evelyn Tobin led the scoring for Dental Arts of Bedford with the help of some great defense skills of Ryan Burke and Elena Doughty.

Fifth and Sixth Grade

Small Green Computer 14,

Sports Authority 8

SGC has been a team with six players: Julia Asadourian, Elizabeth Chopra, Kendal Joyce, Elise Piotrowski, Thea Sarajlic and Kylie Woloski. The girls play the whole game with only one break, if one at all. They hustle on defense and score on offense. They have an extreme amount of grit.

Sports Authority led much of the game but Small Green Computer pulled away in the end. Maddy Antognoni seized the point for much of the game and demonstrated her excellent layup form as she chipped in two points. Miriam Ngenda led the team with four points and continued her excellent defense that led to several steals.

Cohen Investment 9,

Bedford Natural Medicine 8

No one could question the desire of Team Cohen Investment Advisors to earn its first win of the season. The theme of the game was focus, and that is exactly what Deeya Narang, Alayna Zebra, Rishika Bansal, Skylar Cohen, Kate Brown, MacKenzie Smith, Claire Kraemer and Erin McCarthy demonstrated throughout the entire game.

Making her triumphant return to the Bedford Natural Medicine team, Liz Hughes played aggressive defense and displayed leadership under the boards to help guide her team gracefully under pressure.Dribbling the ball the length of the court, Brie Cotnoir demonstrated composure and determination to help her team work cohesively and give it their all.

Kelly Interior Painting 26,

BAC 4

Kelly Interior Painting jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. With a surgeon’s precision, Delaney Goterch sliced her way to the hoop early and often to a game-high 14 points. Izzy Spain chipped in six points to go along with 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Sammy Johnson had four points and Sydney Buffett once again played the role of floor general as she assisted on numerous KIP buckets.

Bedford Athletic Club, which experienced its first lost of the season, fought until the end but could not seem to mount an offensive attack to counter Kelly’s strong shooting performance. Anna Caldwell scored all four of BAC’s points.

Seventh and Eighth Grade

SnapDragons 22,

BAP Personal Training 14

SanpDragon Associates overcame an early deficit to BAP Personal Training to take the 22-14 win. Tough team defense in the last three quarters of the game led to the turn around. The Snapdragon’s Meghan Lang led the scoring with 12 points while Olivia Stavropulos collected 11 rebounds for the team. BAP Personal Training was led by Catherine Sasso and Amelia Edwards, who collected four points each and several steals each.

Bedford Friends of Rec 29,

Nail Indulgence 18

Bedford Friends of Recreation beat Nail Indulgence 29-18. The Friends of Recreation were lead by Lauren Zebra, who had another outstanding defensive game, guarding all positions while breaking down the opposition’s defense with her dribble penetration and Meghan Eldred cleaned up the offensive glass while also providing great help defense.

Nail Indulgence was led by Meghan Thornton, who had six points and Ally England, who chipped in with four points.
