Mara places 3rd for UNH

Jeannette Mara, a Bedford native, placed for the University of New Hampshire women’s track and field team on Saturday’s George Davis Invitational at the University of Massacusetts Lowell.

The Wildcats earned second place, as Mara cleared 5 feet, 3 inches for third place in the high jump.

Bedford trio helps in lax win

Taylor Wallace, of Bedford, scored a goal to help the St. Michael’s College men’s lacrosse team beat Northeast-10 Conference foe American International, 21-9, on Saturday.

Johnny Karanasios, a Bishop Guertin graduate and Bedford native, turned in career bests of six ground balls and two caused turnovers during the win, while fellow BG grad and Bedford native Jake Sonberg made five second-half stops at goalie.

Bedford youths beat Laconia

Despite playing with only one substitute, the Bedford girls outplayed their opponents for ground balls which led to a solid 11-4 victory over Laconia.

Bedford jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and controlled the game the rest of the way. Scoring was lead by Regan O’Brien, Lena Raduazo and KiraAbdelsayad, all with three goals each and Lauren Thomas and Skylar Cohen added one a piece. Sabrina Tipping, Kiera Gardiner and Jill Siechter were strong on defense in front of another solid outing by Elsie Munsterteiger in goal. Brie Cotnoir, Ava Plage and Sam Avampato caused multiple turnovers by Laconia.

Junior Bulldogs registration

The Bedford Junior Bulldogs Youth Football organization is accepting registrations for the 2016 fall season. The Bedford Jr. Bulldogs Pop Warner Youth Football Program (ages 5-12) is the only age and weight restricted football program in the town of Bedford. Kids compete with kids of similar age and size. The focus is on safety and providing a positive learning experience. All coaches, team moms, the football coordinator and president are USA Heads Up certified.

The Bulldogs Jr. High program (grades 6-8) participates in the NE Junior High Football League. Players will have an opportunity to play on the JV and/or Varsity team with unlimited weight levels, preparing them for the high school level. All coaches are USA Football Heads Up certified.

Kids in the Pop Warner Spirit Program (ages 5-15) have an opportunity to perform in an organized, supervised & safety-oriented environment, creating a fun atmosphere while encouraging the development of all participants in an effort to keep pace with the many new changes in the cheer and dance industry.

This year, the Bulldogs are offering a Challenger Cheer Program (ages 5-15) to Bedford and surrounding towns for children who are currently enrolled in school with physical or intellectual disabilities. While emphasizing participation and teamwork through practice and competitions, our goal is to build self esteem and have fun. Barracudas swim registration

Registration for the summer 2016 Bedford Barracudas Swim Team will be held on Tuesday, May 3, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the McKelvie Intermediate School Cafeteria, 108 Liberty Hill Road, Bedford, N.H.

Returning and new swimmers must register in-person on one of these dates – no mail-in or online registrations will be accepted. Please bring completed registration forms (one registration form and conduct clause per swimmer and one volunteer form per family) and payment in cash or check made out to "BST." The cost is $120 for each swimmer in a family.
