Bulldogs move on to semis

The top-ranked Bedford boys tennis team swept its way into the NHIAA Division I semifinals on Tuesday with a 9-0 thrashing of Nashua North at home.

Bedford was scheduled fourth-seeded Exeter on Thursday in the semifinals, but results were not available by Bedford Journal presstime.

The Bulldogs (15-0) took all six singles matches in the quarterfinal win over North – none being closer than an 8-2 margin – and also handily won each of the three doubles matches.

Zack Gould topped Ethan Kim 8-2 in No. 1 singles, while Rohit Yerram earned an 8-1 victory over Kevin Kelly at No. 2 singles. Ian Horne beat Connor King 8-2 at No. 3, Andrew Allen shut out Karthik Korrapaty 8-0 at No. 4, Mike Soucy topped Ethan Rose 8-1 at No. 5 and Tim Weeks completed the flawless singles play with an 8-0 rout of Nathan Young at the No. 6 spot.

The combination of Yerram and Allen beat Kim and Kelly by an 8-2 margin, while Gould and Horne rolled to an 8-3 victory over King and Korrapaty. Soucy and Weeks finished off the impressive quarterfinal win over the eighth-seeded Titans (10-5) with an 8-0 triumph over Rose and Michael Lai.
