WLC back in D-IV semis

The Wilton-Lyndeborough High School softball team was scheduled to be in a familiar place Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors once against advanced to the Division IV semifinals, and were scheduled to play No. 3 Sunapee at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The winner advanced to the championship game, which is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. at Plymouth State University.

No. 2 WLC (16-2) got to the final four with a pair of one-run games in the opening two rounds.

In the preliminary round, the Warriors defeated No. 15 Canaan-Pittsburg 7-6. The long ball helped the Warriors escape a possible upset, as WLC rallied from down 4-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Sarah Holka was 3 for 3 at the plate and had the first home run that brough the score to 4-1. In the circle Holka went all seven innings, allowing four hits, three walks, and struck out 11. Jenna Bragdon provided the second home run for the Warriors, a two-run shot that brought the score to 5-3. Sami Bosquet was 2 for 3 with the third home run.

WLC followed that up with a 5-4 victory in the quarterfinals over No. 10 Moultonborough.

No. 1 Woodsville and No. 4 Portsmouth Christians played in the other semifinal.
