LACROSSE

New name for club

Following a board vote that took place on Sept. 4, Amherst Lacrosse Club announced it will officially change its name to Souhegan Valley Lacrosse Cooperative. Additionally, the club filed trade name applications for “Amherst Lacrosse Club” and “Milford Lacrosse Club,” both of which have also been provided and approved by the New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association.

Amherst Lacrosse Club’s board has transitioned to be the board of the Souhegan Valley Lacrosse Cooperative. The board will now oversee both the Amherst Lacrosse Club and the Milford Lacrosse Club with expectations of fielding teams under each program.

For 2015, Milford Lacrosse Club will be looking to field a U9 girls and boys program for the spring season. Amherst Lacrosse Club will field U9-U15 girls and boys programs for the spring. Souhegan Valley Lacrosse Cooperative will field the co-ed learn-to-play programs. Registration will open in the next month on the Amherst Lacrosse Club’s website, www.
amherstlacrosseclub.com, for the spring programs.

“This restructuring enables the club to fulfill its mission of growing the sport of lacrosse in the region as well as reflects what the youth club has become.” said Erich Herbert, President of Souhegan Valley Lacrosse Cooperative. “This enables us to leverage existing infrastructure as well as our operational excellence to focus on skill development and growing the sport. Ultimately, this doesn’t change much in the immediate future for the kids who have been in the Amherst program previously, because our vision is to grow Milford Lacrosse Club up from the youngest age brackets.”

Souhegan Valley Lacrosse Cooperative is also applying to the Olde New England Lacrosse League to field a 40-plus lacrosse team for the 2015 season. Registration for the team will open soon at www.amherstlacrosseclub.com.
