Oct. 29: Souhegan 1,
Plymouth 0

Devan Casey put the Sabers out in front early, as he buried a beautiful feed from Matt Hopfenspirger at the seven minute mark of the first half. The Sabers would struggle against a strong midfield attack from Plymouth as the game wore on, but hung on to the one goal lead and eliminated Plymouth from the Division II playoffs.

Teigue Young made three stops in goal for Souhegan to earn the shutout. The Sabers improve to 10-5-1 and will host Kennett, which upset Trinity 1-0, on Saturday.

PRELIMINARY ROUND

Oct. 30: Goffstown 2, Souhegan 0

After going down 1-0 in the first half, Souhegan (9-8) controlled most of the second half but couldn’t manage to put the ball in the back of the net. The Sabers outshot Goffstown 19-12.

Emma Estabrook led the team in shots and hit the crossbar twice. Anna Farrow and Casey Johnson also played well for the Sabers, and goalie Hannah Chick (10 saves) made a stop on a penalty kick in the first half to keep the Sabers in the game.

PRELIMINARY ROUND

Oct. 29: Newmarket 2, WLC 0

The Warriors controlled the pace of the play for the first five minutes of the game, but after that it was an uphill battle, as Newmarket kept WLC pinned inside its own zone for the remainder of the game. Newmarket picked up its first goal at the halfway point of the first half, then added the backbreaker later in the second half to eliminate the Warriors from the playoffs.

Connor Melrose played spectacular in net for WLC, making 27 saves in the game, including one penalty kick. Skye Williams and Chris Ballou also both played well in the loss.

“Definitely a rebuilding year, we lost 11 seniors last year and we had six seniors this year, which was our last group of guys a part of our championship.’’ coach Steve Martus said.

PRELIMINARY ROUND

Oct. 30: Profile 4, WLC 1

The Warriors (9-8) gave up two first half goals and never recovered. Naomi Wight had the only goal on a penalty kick while Cori Balam had eight saves in net.
