Dec. 12: Milford 53,
Jess Ryan scored a game-high 20 points and Becca Cleary added 13 to lead Milford to an easy season-opening win over ConVal in Peterborough.
Erin McGuire came up big defensively for the Spartans, deflecting Cougars passes away and creating offensive runs in the opposite direction for Milford. Kelsey Walker and Jordan Mills led the way for ConVal (0-1).
Adelle Pitsas (10 points), Devany Pitsas (eight) and Jen Carson (two) chipped in on the offensive end for Milford (1-0).
Dec. 16: Milford 39,
The Spartans improved to 2-0 after holding Lebanon to just two points in an 18-2 first half. Jess Ryan had 11 points while Adelle Pitsas added eight.
Dec. 10: Milford 45,
The Spartans got out to a big lead early and were able to hang on to the match thanks in part to a comeback by Jacob Girouard at 145 pounds in the season opener in Division II.
Girouard trailed most of his match against Merrimack’s Kyle Newman, but scored five points in the final 20 seconds, including three at the buzzer, to win 11-8. Also getting wins for Milford (1-0) were Kyle Faucher-Clancy (182) and Matt Digision (106), while George Horta (170), Josh Smith (195), Travis Hughes (285), Rueben Carson (126) and Michael Pellitter (152) each recorded a pin for the Spartans.
Merrimack’s Nick LaRoche (120) and Eric Theriault (126) recorded back-to-back pins to get the Tomahawks within six points, 27-21, with five matches to go. Also winning for the Tomahawks (0-1) were Lucas Gardenour (5-1 at 220), Matt Baxter (pin, 113), Sean Hebert (14-8, 138) and Mitchell McMahon (pin, 160).
Dec. 10: Winnisquam 60, Souhegan 12
Jake Upton (132 pounds) and Lloyd Mosher (145) recorded the only wins for Souhegan, both via the pin, as the Sabers suffered a tough season-opening loss to Winnisquam.
The loss included nine forfeit victories for Winnisquam. The only other match wrestled was at 138 pounds, during which Sabers grappler Ali Eweiss was pinned.
Dec. 12: WLC 68,
Jordan Litts hit three 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 22 points as Wilton-Lyndeborough cruised to a 68-35 win over Hinsdale in its Division IV season opener Friday night.
The Warriors’ balanced scoring and a defense that held the Pacers to 20 points through three quarters made the difference.
Aiding Litts offensively were Matt Ducharme and Ty Carrier with 10 and nine points respectively, while Duncan Rae, Trey Carrier and Casey Lane all chipped in with seven points each for the Warriors (1-0), who host Derryfield at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
