Dec. 19: Milford 59, HB 49
After trailing for the entire first half, Hollis Brookline managed to take a brief lead in the third. Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, their comeback came up short.
Matt Fothergill and Will Peterson led the way for Hollis with 10 points apiece.
Dec. 19: Milford 50, HB 17
The Spartans were great on the defensive side of the ball, as they managed to hold the Cavaliers to just three points in the entire second half. Meanwhile, Milford scored 32 of its 50 in the second half to improve to 3-0 on the season.
HB’s best effort came in the second quarter, as they managed to come back from a 14-point deficit to only trail by four going into the half. Milford’s Jessica Ryan had a game high 19 points, while Adelle Pitsas was second with 13.
Dec. 20: Girls tie
The Milford girls recorded 41 points to tie for second at a 15-team meet at Dartmouth College. The Spartans won the 4×200 relay, with Devany Pitsas, Amy Arena, Nicole McMorrow and Olivia Rougeau finishing in 1 minute, 54.71 seconds. McMorrow also took third in the 55-meter dash, finishing in 7.85. The Milford boys finished 17th with four points.
Dec. 17: Milford 59,
Bishop Guertin 24
Milford used five wins via pin and four via forfeit to defeat Bishop Guertin 59-24.
J.T. Bellatoni, George Horta, Jacob Ricca, Josh Smith and Travis Hughes all outlasted their respective opponents for the Spartans, while Jordan Rowlette, Jacob Bue, Brandon Levesque and Nygel Lyskawa were victorious for BG.
One notable match came in the 182-pound division, which, according to Milford coach Dana Bourassa, Ricca moved up a weight class and pinned Jacob Christie in 4 minutes, 27 seconds.
Dec. 19: ConVal 64,
The Souhegan boys managed to force overtime against ConVal, but their opponent caught fire in the extra period. Alex Hill led the way for Souhegan, scoring nine baskets on his way to 22 points. Jerrell Webster and Gabe Cruz combined for 20 in the loss.
Dec. 19: Souhegan 51, ConVal 19
Hannah Chick had a great game for the Sabers, dropping 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double. Ciarri Levertu also had a strong game with a game-high 11 points. With the win Souhegan improves to 2-1, while Con-Val falls to 0-2.
Dec. 20: John Stark-Hopkinton 6, Souhegan 3
The Souhegan High School boys hockey team allowed a pair of goals in all three periods on its way to a 6-3 loss to John Stark. Robbie Duarte led the Sabers with a goal and assist, while Thomas Lott made 22 saves in net.
Also scoring for Souhegan was Kevin O’Brien (Nate Gunter assist) and Alek Medic (Duarte and James Wilson) on the power play in the third. Jon Ehrlich assisted Duarte on his goal with 1:02 left in the game.
Dec. 20: Sabers
run at Dartmouth
The Sabers finished fifth (34 points) in the girls meet and sixth (17.5) in the boys meet at Dartmouth College. Madeleine Hunt won the 1,500 in 5 minutes, 0.12 seconds, while Abby Cranney was second in the 55 (7.79). The boys got a first place from Ben Platt in the 1,000 (2:39.44).
