Feb. 4: Windham 49,
Milford 18

Despite an excellent match from Josh Smith, the Milford wrestling team couldn’t get much going against Windham. At 220, Smith managed to reverse his opponent in the final five seconds. The move gave the wrestler the two points he needed for a 4-2 victory. Ricky Debernardo (145), George Horta (220) and Travis Hughes (285) also earned wins for the Spartans.

Feb. 7: Spartans top
Souhegan, Pelham

Milford went 2-1 at a four-team wrestling event on Saturday, topping Souhegan 12-6 and beating Pelham 24-16. The Spartans ultimately felt to Alvirne, 33-31.

Standout wrestlers for the Spartans included Matt Digiosio (106), Mike Pellitteri (145), Devyn Pioli (152), George Horta (160), Jake Ricca (170) and Travis Hughes (285).

Nick Milinazzo (132) won a pair of matches for the Broncos. Teammates Cam McClure (106), Brandon Gadbois (126), John Plante (138), Evan Manning (182), Kyle Heidbreder (195) and Cole Sevigny (285) also earned wins for Alvirne.



Feb. 7: Souhegan 12,
Man. West 0

The Sabers didn’t have any issues getting past a pesky Manchester West squad, as Souhegan cruised to a shutout victory.

Patrick McGrath led Souhegan with three goals while James Wilson added a pair of goals and three assists. Kevin O’Brien added a pair of scores, while Blake Karavas, Paul Stacy and Robbie Duarte each netted one. Captain Alex Maresco contributed three assists in the victory.

Thomas Lott stopped 28 shots in net for Souhegan.


Feb. 7: Lebanon 3,
Souhegan 0

Despite a great effort from goalie Sarah LaFleur, the Sabers had a tough time getting any momentum against Lebanon.

Eliza Cullen did her best to generate some scoring opportunities in the loss, while teammates Lauren McCormick and Elizabeth Silvia-Chandley also did a nice job pressuring the opposing goalie.


Feb. 7: Culver leads Souhegan to third

Hannah Culver was the girl’s champion at Souhegan’s Sprint Elimination Nordic Race, guiding the team to a third-place finish. The Sabers finished with 358 points, while first-place Concord finished with 389 points. Kelly Dellovo (12th) and Kathleen Foley (17th) also had standout days for Souhegan.

On the boy’s side, Concord won the event with 385 points, while Souhegan was fourth with 339. Kyle Manlogan led the Sabers with a 23rd-place finish, while teammate Matt Hartman was 30th.



Feb. 4: Mascenic 65,
WLC 47

Jordan Litts scored 31 points, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Warriors, as Wilton fell to Mascenic, 65-47. Ty Carrier added 14 points, while Connor Melrose rounded out the scoring with a bucket.

Feb. 6: WLC 70,
Sunapee 63

After their seven-game winning streak was ended earlier in the week, WLC bounced back with a victory over Sunapee. Jordan Litts, Duncan Rae, Ty Carrier and Trey Carrier each scored in double-figures for the Warriors.


Feb. 4: Bailey
finishes second

Several local teams traveled to Oyster River High School yesterday to compete in the Last Chance Invitational.

On the boy’s side, there were two local champions: Alvirne’s Zachary Wambsganss (100 butterfly) and Nashua South’s Sammuel McIntyre (100 back). Other local athletes finished in the top-six of their respective events, including South’s Connor Mullaly (second, 100 breast), BG’s Roviel Arquiza (third, 100 breast), Alvirne’s Jake Auger (fourth, 100 breast) and Nashua North’s Ryan Lawes (fifth, 100 free).

For the girls, Nashua South’s Caroline Ferris (100 butterfly), Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Charlotte Bailey (100 breast) and BG’s Olivia Petropulos (200 IM) all finished in second. Other local participants includes South’s Regina Chartier (fourth, 200 IM), Alvirne’s Julia Balukonis (fourth, 100 breast) and North’s Danielle Dumont (sixth, 100 breast).
