Football Week 1

JOHN STARK AT MILFORD

WHEN: 7 p.m., Friday. WHERE: Milford High School.

2014 RESULT: Milford 35, John Stark 14

FYI: These two teams have played eight times going back to

2004, and the Spartans have won all eight, scoring at least

34 points seven times and winning by an average margin of

24.6 points. In the last two years, Milford has outscored the

Generals 77-21. Milford center Kody Palladino could be one

of the top offensive lineman in the state this season, leading

the way for what is always a successful running game

for Milford. John Stark is led by quarterback Drew McQuarrie

while his father, Rob, takes over as head coach.

MONADNOCK AT SOUHEGAN

WHEN: 7 p.m., Friday. WHERE: Souhegan High School.

2014 RESULT: Souhegan 27, Monadnock 20.

FYI: After a 5-3 finish a year ago, the Sabers are shooting for

a return to the postseason for the first time since 2012, and

just the second time since 2010. Souhegan has plenty of

experience returning led by senior captains Mike Mancini

and Nick Truchon. The Sabers also return Cam Kinney, who

was a force at running back and linebacker in Souhegan’s

35-0 win over Manchester West at last Friday’s Queen City

Jamboree. This is the third year in a row the Sabers open

with Monadnock, having lost to the Huskies in 2013, 40-7.
