SHS boys soccer tops Milford

Souhegan scored the game-winning goal in front of its home crowd from Cam Watson in the 17th minute, assisted by Thomas Hor­nor, to blank Milford, 1-0, Tuesday.

Milford (1-3) got eight saves from goalkeeper Derek Curtis, while Souhegan got two saves from Will Facques. The Sabers improved to 3-1.

Milford 2, Hollis Brookline 1

Griff Comtois and Ryan Thomp­son scored one goal each Friday, both assisted by Jacob Wilder as the Spartans beat the Cavaliers 2-1. Milford’s Jakob Leo, Mason Mallows and Mike Federico were strong in the midfield and defen­sively in front of keeper Derek Cur­tis (eight saves).

ConVal 2, Souhegan 1

The visiting Sabers fell to 2-1 on the season despite striking first thanks to a goal in the 32nd minute from Jacob Hopfenspirger (assist­ed by Cam Watson).

Goalkeeper Will Facques made five saves in the losing effort.


Souhegan 2, ConVal 1

Maggie Dix scored on a corner kick, assisted by Grace Angulas, in the 42nd minute. ConVal tied the game late, but Souhegan senior captain Emma Estabrook scored the game-winning goal with under 3 minutes left in the game Friday. Goalkeeper Lily Batchelder had six saves and Souhegan improved to 2-1 on the season.

HB 2, Milford 1

The Cavaliers got on the board first with a goal from Michele Philpot (assist­ed by Dana Urlich), but Milford (2-1) tied the game up on a goal in the 38th minute off a direct kick from Erin McGuire. Fri­day’s eventual game-winning goal came in the 49th minute, scored by HB fresh­man Tasha White.

Milford 1, Souhegan 1

The Sabers tied it midway through the second half on Tuesday. Milford (2-1-1) took a 1-0 lead when Asten Tlapa scored for the Spartans (unassisted) in the first half. Jade Gregg had 10 saves in the Mil­ford goal while teammate Breanna De­Groot played well in multiple positions.


Milford 3, Souhegan 0

Milford opened its season Friday with a road win (25-22, 25-11, 25-7) thanks to Gabby Monico (seven aces, six kills, one block). The Spartans also got contribu­tions from Emily Flaherty (11 assists) and Maddy Wheeler (five aces, five kills). Souhegan’s Katie O’Brien had two aces, eight digs and two kills.


HB 2, Milford 0

The visiting Cavaliers (1-1) scored one goal in each half, first by Sofia Baras­si, then by Megan McLaughlin. Hollis Brookline had lots of action in their offensive end, thanks to the defensive work of Jackie Hallerman, Megan Cor­ban and Maddie Kuchta. Midfielder Me­gan Hill also played well.


HB tops Sabers, Spartans

Josh Farmer carded a 35 to tie Wind­ham’s James McKee for medalist honors, helping the Cavaliers go 2-1 in a quad meet Thursday at Amherst Country Club. Windham remained undefeated on the season with a 189. Hollis Brookline followed at 201, ahead of Souhegan’s 207 and Milford’s 213.

Ryan Stankiewicz was the top per­former for the Sabers with a 37, while Evan Ryan and Nick Cauley each fired a 41 for the Spartans. Weston Pare (43), Hunter Hoffman (44) and Ben Lopez (44) also competed well for Milford (2-4), which plays next on Tuesday at Kingswood. Hollis Brookline (6-1) and Souhegan (7-2) entered the day unde­feated.

Souhegan splits with Hanover, Trinity

The Sabers (212) were bested by Ha­nover (208) on Tuesday, but were well ahead of Trinity (254). Jeff Bohem led the way with a season low of 38, while Ryan Stankewicz followed up with a 40, birding the ninth hole.

John Natale and Nick Jordan each shot 44, and Senior Liam King rounded out the top five with a 46.

Milford wins two in quad-match

Milford (3-5) beat out Oyster River (235) and Kennett (237) with a total of 215 on Tuesday, but was beaten by King­swood (211). The Spartans were led by Hunter Hoffman (37) followed by Evan Ryan (42), Nick Cauley (44), Weston Pare (46), Ben Lopez (46), and Jameson Pare (47). The medalist of the match was Sam Barton (34) from Kingswood.
