Sabers back in baseball semis
Editor’s note: After a rainout on Tuesday, the second-seeded Souhegan baseball team was scheduled to play No. 3 Windham in the Division II semfinals at Southern New Hampshire University. Results were not available by Cabinet press time, but can be found at NHIAA.org.
AMHERST – Bryce Reagan went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored to pace No. 2 Souhegan to a 6-1 victory over No. 10 Bow in a Division II quarterfinal on Saturday at Amherst.
Ryan Hill also had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while Tucker Aiello and Caelan Behn both singled and scored.
Owen Batchelder added a base knock and Alec Burns drove in a run. Batchelder also started the game on the hill and went the first four innings before Burns took over. Jacob Grassett recorded the final out and scored a run for the defending champion Sabers (15-2).
“We realized that from day one that we were the team that everybody wanted a part of. We’ve learned a lot about ourselves,” Souhegan coach Bill Dod said. “I think these kids play the game at a high level. They’re very, very talented and we’re thrilled to be back in the semifinals in Manchester because that’s the goal. Our talent has shown that we deserve to be there.”
