Jan. 7: HB 56,
Bishop Guertin 18
The Cavaliers remained undefeated in dual meets with a big win over the Cardinals.
Wyatt Farwell (170 pounds) and Kayne Robert (195) both recorded pins for HB, while Nick McPherson won his match, 12-0, at 145 and Andrew Butler won, 14-0, at 160.
Bishop Guertin got pins from Brandon Levesque (152) and Jacob Bue (113).
Jan. 10: Cavaliers
third in four-team meet
Hollis Brookline finished third behind Goffstown and Bishop Guertin at Saturday’s four-team meet in Manchester. Seniors Mark Thibeault (189, 180) and Leo Lorden (173, 154) bowled two strong games to lead the Cavaliers. Sophomore Paige Gionet bowled her highest game yet at 177.
Senior Hannah Modelski, junior Matt Garside, and sophomores Jack Samec, Ryan Tucker and Kevin Glover helped to secure the third-place spot for HB with solid days on the lanes.
HB finished with 1,457 total pins, third behind Pinkerton Academy (1,772) and Goffstown (1,645), but ahead of Bishop Guertin (1,442). Positioning would shift after Baker style play, as BG leapt from four to second and Goffstown won the meet. HB lost to Goffstown in the Baker style first round (185-142, 126-127, 150-105) then beat Pinkerton 178-173, 135-170, 170-162).
The HB junior varsity team placed third, losing to Goffstown in three tight games (135-131, 118-120, 123-115).
Jan. 9: Milford 56,
HB 55 (OT)
Kirk Palladino hit a 3-pointer to give the Spartans the lead for good in overtime, and also sank a key free throw down the stretch as Milford improved to 3-0 in Division II.
Drew Jepson led the way for the winners with 24 points, helping to offset a hot night by the 2-2 Cavs’ Matt Fothergill, who had six 3-pointers en route to 22 points.
Jan. 13: Manchester West 80, HB 39
Trevor Bowler led the Cavs with 14 points but it
wasn’t enough as they fell to 2-3, with the Blue Knights taking control with a 27-6 second quarter. Nick Fothergill added five points for the Cavs.
Jan. 9: Milford 45, HB 40
Jess Ryan had 14 points and Becca Cleary added 13 as the Spartans (5-0) remained unbeaten. Milford outscored the Cavaliers 19-4 in the third quarter and held off a Hollis Brookline (1-6) rally. Cassandra Stapelfeld led the Cavaliers with 16 points while Kristin Johnson added 10.
Jan. 11: Cavs run at UNH
The Cavaliers competed in the afternoon session at the University of New Hampshire, with the girls taking second with 37 points, while the boys were ninth with 12.
Lauren Cole won the 1,000-meter run, finishing in 3:24.5, while Pauline Zimmerman and Megan Cramton came in second and third, respectively, in the same event.
Kathleen Collins came in second in the shot put and Grace Anneser finished third in the 55 hurdles. Emilie Newsham and Emma Bruseo finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 3,000.
Cole, Zimmerman, Cramton and Madylin Partridge finished second in the 4×400 relay while Anneser, Megan Cole, Celeste Fetter and Olivia Lukovits finished sixth in the 4×160.
Evan Porter led the boys by finishing first in the 55 hurdles in 8.4 seconds. Porter also teamed with Matt Harmon, Jason Harworth and Oliver Fetter to come in fourth in the 4×160 relay.
