Hollis Brookline High School Highlights
Feb. 4: HB 56,
The Cavaliers jumped out to a 34-0 lead and never looked back on senior night, as they rolled past Merrimack in a Division II dual meet.
Seniors Andrew Butler (160 pounds) and Travis Guthrie (182) each recorded a pin for Hollis Brookline; Butler’s win was the 100th of his career. Also recording pins were Garrett Klausner (120), Nathaniel Lindsay (132), Wyatt Farwell (170), Kayne Robert (195) and Clement Sherwood (220). HB also got wins from Christian Lopez (152) and Nick McPherson (145).
Merrimack got a pin from Zachary Bulow (106) while Eric Theriault (126), Sean Hebert (138) and Tyler Tiano (285) also had wins.
Feb. 7: HB goes 1-1 vs. Nashua South, Timberlane
Hollis Brookline and Nashua South had a tough time against Timberlane on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers fell to their opponent 57-16, while the Panthers lost 75-0. HB did beat South, 57-12. Hollis Brookline’s Andrew Butler, Wyatt Farwell and Clement Sherwood went undefeated at the event. Matt Lamarche was the lone bright spot for South.
Feb. 6: St. Thomas 68,
St. Thomas netted a pair of free throws with less than four seconds remaining, ending the Cavaliers’ three-game winning streak.
Matt Fothergill had a big game for the visitors, scoring a game-high 23 points. Stephen Giaconia scored 11 for the Cavaliers while Nick Fothergill and Trevor Bowler combined for 15.
Feb. 10: Oyster River 45, HB 36
Eleven first-half turnovers hurt the Cavaliers as they fell to 5-5 on the year. Matt Fothergill had 11 points and Nick Fothergill added nine.
Feb. 10: Oyster River 58, HB 37
Cassandra Stapelfeld had 18 points and eight rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to offset 34 points by Oyster River’s Sarah Messler. Celeste Marsan added six points for the host Cavaliers, who fell to 2-10.
Feb. 4: HBDS 6,
Zach Goiette stopped 25 shots in net as the Hollis Brookline/Derryfield hockey team cruised to a 6-3 victory over Goffstown.
Allen Mello, Tom Johnson, Max Hatheway, Michael Chiasson, Brett Pearson and Kyle Stephens each netted goals in the victory. Dan Ash provided three assists, while Mello finished with a pair.
Feb. 5: Cavs place
eight in top 10
The Cavaliers boys and girls both finished with four skiers in the top 10 at their Division II slalom race at Crotched Mountain.
Paul Menard led the way with a third-place finish, ending with a combined time of 1:13. Teammates Trevor Cooke, Luke Martin and Andy Cook also finished in the top-10.
Ellie Caswell led the girls with a fifth place finish, while Maddy Cambray, Jennifer Choate and Jocelyn Lysik finished close behind.
