Sports Talk Hollis Brookline Journal

U11 Jr. Cavaliers

The Hollis Brookline Jr. Cavaliers U11 football team traveled to Bedford to play the Jaguars in Game 3 of the season. It was a team effort with tackles across the board for HB, but with wet weather a factor and a minimal roster, it proved to be a rocky start for the Cavs, as the Jags came away with an early lead. Not to be deterred, this young team continued to play hard throughout and also make adjustments to compensate for their struggling offense.

In the first half, the Cavs defensive line showed much improvement while forcing turnovers with a pair of sacks on Bedford’s QB, a number of fumbled snap recoveries led by Dillon O’Sullivan and an off-the-line hard tackle by Braden Treacy.

In the second half, the Cavs were successful in holding Bedford to the red zone on a few successive possessions to stop any additional scoring plays. Tackles and assists were credited to such players as Mason Christen and Zach Tiner.

Late in the third quarter and into the fourth, the Cavs started to find their stride when the offense made some impressive runs while breaking multiple tackles and gaining yardage with pass completions. However, they were unable to produce any scoring plays and the Jaguars came away with the win.

Next weekend, U11 will march in the Hollis Old Home Days parade and play at home vs. Concord.
