HB takes Red Raider Invite

The Hollis Brookline wrestling team beat out 15 opponents to win the Red Raider Invitational championship in Athol, Mass., on Saturday, finishing with 190 points. Natick, Mass., took second with 156 team points.

Nathaniel Lindsay (138 pounds), Christian Lopez (170) and Caleb Lomme all won individual championships for the Cavaliers. Cameron Dreyer (106), Wyatt Farwell (160), Kayne Robert (195) and Clement Sherwood (220) each finished in second place, with Daniel Delong (126) and Nick McPherson (145) took third and Zack Brickner (120) placed fourth.

The Cavaliers (1-0) will host Winnacunnet (0-1) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in their home opener before hosting the Nor-Easter Invitational on Saturday.


Hollis Brookline 57, Windham 53

Cassandra Stapelfeld scored a game-high 27 points, 17 of those coming in a ferocious fourth-quarter comeback, as Hollis Brookline pulled off a 57-53 win in its Division II season opener at Windham.

Trailing the entire game, HB grabbed its first and only lead down the stretch with a 27-point fourth quarter.

Nina Berni led the Jaguars (0-1) with 15 points in defeat.

Joanna Balsamo chipped in with 15 points, while Kenzie Day supplied stellar defense for the Cavaliers (1-0)
