Hollis Brookline among top teams at Alpine ski meet

Hollis Brookline and Milford were two of the best teams at Cranmore Mountain, finishing second and fourth respectively out of 13 teams in the Division II boys Alpine Skiing Championships. The Cavaliers also finished in the top five on the girls side as well, earning the fourth spot behind Souhegan, which was tied for second with Hanover.

Plymouth won the boys event with 733 points. HB was runner-up with 693, followed by Kennett (672 points), Milford (616) and Windham (611) rounding out the top five. Souhegan (593) was seventh.

Individually, Milford’s David Spalding was third in the Giant Slalom, followed closely by HB’s Luke Martin in fourth in a race won by Hanover’s David Stocken.

HB’s Paul Menard also recorded a top three finish with runner-up status in the Slalom behind ConVal’s Eli Tamok. Also finishing top 10 in Slalom was Martin (seventh), fellow Cavalier Trevor Cooke (ninth) and Milford’s Parker Lambert.

In girls action, Souhegan and Hanover finished with 706.5 points. Kennett won the event with 744, while HB and Kingswood closed out at 687 and 670 for fourth and fifth. Milford was last with 265 points.

Rhiannon Allison won the Slalom and was fifth in the Giant Slalom to pace the Sabers’ top three finish. HB’s Steph Menard and Ellie Caswell also earned top 10 finishes in the Slalom, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. The Sabers duo was also 13th and 14th in the Giant Slalom.

Other locals with top 15 finishes in either event were HB’s Izzy Menard (11th in Slalom), and the Souhegan trio of Olivia Bennett (10th in Giant Slalom), Alana Barretto (13th in Slalom) and Anna Farrow (15th in Slalom).
