The Cavs, after Pinkerton won a marathon first set 31-29, split the remaining four, 25-16, 22-25, 21-5-21, 8-15 in their season opener.Nick Wood (17 kills, seven blocks), Zac Crooks (11 kills, seven blocks), Tucker McIlwrath (10 kills, seven blocks), and Scott Van Coughnett (42 assists) paced the 0-1 Cavs, who host Bishop Guertin on Wednesday.

Courtney Koran (8-2), Teresa Randlett (8-0), Maddy McCann (8-1), Monkia Schneider (8-4), and Emily Spooner (8-5) all won in singles for the Cavs in their opener. HB swept doubles with the tandems of Hall-Koran (8-1), Randlett-McCann (8-1) and Schneider-Julia Stam (8-5) doing the job during the convincing win.

The Cavs cruised in their opener with singles wins by David Cherkassky (8-5), Matt Spooner (8-0), Andrew Stam (8-2), Matt Williamson (8-2), Matt Garside (8-0) and Cam Vahe (8-3).

The doubles teams of Garside -Williamson (8-2), Pat MacDonald-Varhe (8-3) and Taylor Goyette-Dexter Czuba (8-0) completed the sweep.

HBJC registration

The next on-site registrations will be held Saturday at the Brookline Fire Department from 9-11 a.m.
