Sweeney enjoys career night for Stonehill
Caitlin Sweeney, a Hollis native and Hollis Brookline graduate, enjoyed a career night for the 20th-ranked Stonehill College women’s lacrosse team on Thursday, April 28 on Senior Night at Timothy J. Coughlin Memorial Field.
Sweeney paced a 13-5 victory over Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Stonehill senior scored a
career-high seven goals and added an assist for eight points, which was also a career best. Sweeney converted 5 of 7 free-position shots and was only two goals shy of the school’s single-game record.
Sweeney also had a goal during an 11-4 loss to No. 5 LIU Post on April 26. The Hollis native deposited a team-high three goals during an 8-7 come-from-behind triumph over St. Michael’s on April 22.
Sweeney leads Stonehill (9-8) with 32 goals and she also has 10 assists to tie for team lead with 42 points in only 15 games played. The Skyhawks are aiming for an 18th consecutive season in the NE-10 semifinals, but entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed and opened against No. 3 seed Bentley University on Wednesday.
