BOYS HOCKEY

Feb. 11: Merrimack 5,
Winnacunnet 0

Merrimack dominated Winnacunnet at The Rinks in Exeter, controlling play for a majority of the game, outshooting the Warriors 42-10 and eventually shutting them out 5-0 on the scoreboard.

Matt Brewster stopped all 10 shots he faced for the win in net, while Shane Foye paced the Tomahawks’ offense with one goal and one assist.

Jason Fortin scored Merrimack’s first goal with help from Ryan Downie and Foye, who scored the team’s second goal off a pass from Aiden O’Brien.

John Tiano, Kyle Feeney and Darwin Carozza also scored one goal each for the Tomahawks (8-4) against the Warriors (5-6), while Tyler Brewster, Hunter Burke and O’Brien assisted on those.

Feb. 13: Merrimack 6, Portsmouth/Newmarket 1

Shane Foye netted a pair of goals as Merrimack cruised to a victory over Portsmouth/Newmarket. Jason Fortin, Kyle Feeney, Aaron Tupper and Steve Licata also scored in the victory, while Owen O’Brien contributed two assists. Matt Brewster stopped 15 shots for the Tomahawks, who improve to 9-4.

WRESTLING

Feb. 14: Cougars
top Merrimack

Campbell and Merrimack met up for a three-team meet featuring Pinkerton, with the Cougars topping the Tomahawks, 51-28. Both teams fell to the Astros, with Campbell losing 42-34 and Merrimack 51-27.

Tyler McCrady (138), Marc Boomhower (145) and Conor Gannon (182) were the big winners for Campbell, as each wrestler finished with a pair of wins.

Merrimack’s Sean Hebert (138) and Kyle Newman (145) came away with the victories against Pinkerton.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Feb. 17: Man. Central 60, Merrimack 43

The Tomahawks led, 26-22, at the half but Central’s defensive pressure caused the game to be a different story in the second half. Austin Franzen led the Tomahawks (6-7) with 11 ponts while Zach Kerr and Ian Roberts had seven apiece.
