Merrimack 10U teams play well at NHYLA state tourney

The Merrimack Youth Association 10U boys lacrosse teams competed this weekend at the New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association tournament, held at Souhegan High School on June 10-11.

The B Division Large Field team went 2-0 on Saturday in the second tier bracket, defeating Windham 9-6 to avenge a loss from a week earlier, and Pelham, 11-6. The team finished 7-2 on the season.

Leading the team on defense all season were goalies Max Giles and Evan Coleman, while defenders Jack Maye, Beau Lamontagne, Quinn Curren and Gavin Hickey held off the attack.

Playing strong at the midfield were Sean Anderson, Nathaniel Bergen, Cole Biedryzcki, Cayden Dine, Nathan Johnson, Colin Murphy, and Shea Scott. Pacing the attack on offense were Riley Gwinn, Peyton Connolly, and Jake Miller.

The B Division Small Field team went 1-1 on Sunday, falling to Bedford 10-2 in the opening game of the second tier, then rebounding to beat Abenaki of Wolfeboro 13-6. The team finished 5-4 overall.

Playing strong defense on the day were Tyler Allen and Will Farrell in front of goalies Mason Tremblay and Felix Rattunde. Rattunde and Tremblay also played well on attack with Logan Hutchinson while Kallen Stewart contributed to midfield and defense. Jackson Meehan also helped the defense all season long.

The 10U teams were coached by Ashley Coleman, Rich Gwinn, Chris Maye, and Brian Miller.
