Basic Law Enforcement Recruit Graduation

The 19 graduates of the Day Law Enforcement Basic Recruit were honored during a ceremony held on May 29, 2012. Sheriff Gary Borders, of the Lake County Sheriff's Office, delivered the Sheriff's Address and Mrs. Sue Purdy, 5th Judicial Circuit State Attorney, was the Keynote Speaker. The graduates were: Christopher D. Addington, Timothy P. Allen, Kyle D. Chavers, Benjamin A. Conerly, Patrick L. Cummins, Robert A. Frieszell, Patrick F. Hanstein, John C. Knight, Eric W. Lamoreaux, Catherine L. Millner, Brandon G. Onuschak, David F. O'Shaughnessy, III, Joseph L. Peterson, Justin R. Rapp, Alec D. Ritter, Daniel J. Saldivar, Jacob R. Shoemaker, Stephen A. Stroup, and Ayla M. Watson.

Program graduates who pass the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) certification exam are qualified to be police officers, deputy sheriffs or state officers at most Florida law enforcement agencies. Many students are hired by agencies pending the results of the FDLE certification exam. Graduates of this program may receive college credit at Lake-Sumter Community College or any other Florida community college when transferring to a Criminal Justice A.S. or A.A.S. degree program.
