The Greater Manchester YMCA’s Catalinas Synchronized Swim Team competed at the 2012 Region D Intermediate and Age Group Championship at the Andover YMCA in Andover, Mass., in May.

In the 13 and older Intermediate Figures, Sarah Hannaford, of Bedford, placed first. She also placed second in the 13 and older Intermediate Trio routine, with Lindsey Andrews, of Dunbarton, and Abigail Smith, of Manchester. The trio is now qualified to compete in the 2012 East Zone Intermediate Championship meet in Buffalo, N.Y.

Two Catalina teams competed. The Green Squad, made up of Hannaford; Irina Kustovskaya, of Goffstown; Smith; Molly Spalding, of Mont Vernon; and Lily Zemelko, of Derry, placed first in the 13 and older Intermediate Team routine. The Purple Squad, made up of Andrews; Olivia Caselden; Madelinn Harmelink; Ilana Hensley; Elizabeth Herod; Emily McAuliffe; Kaylie Piecuch, of Goffstown; and Katherine Spalding, of Mont Vernon, placed fourth in the 13 and older Intermediate Team routine. Both teams will compete in the 2012 East Zone Intermediate Championship meet in Buffalo, N.Y.
