Bedford cadet graduates from West Point

Cadet Adam J. Fulling, son of Brian and Louise Fulling, of Bedford, graduated May 26 from the U.S. Military Academy.

Fulling graduated from Manchester West High School in 2008.

While at West Point, he studied mechanical engineering and received the Dean’s Pentathlete Award for earning at least an A- in all courses: academic, military science, military development and physical education.

Fulling spent the spring semester of his third year as a transfer student at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he received his glider pilot wings.

Last summer, he had a three-week internship experience with the United Kingdom’s Rotary Wing Test and Evaluation Squadron at Boscombe Down, England. He also interned at Fort Stewart, Ga., where he shadowed a helicopter pilot while serving as platoon leader.

Fulling graduated 44th in his class (top 4 percent), with mechanical engineering honors. He has been asked to return to West Point as a faculty member in the mechanical engineering department after he earns his master’s and achieves the rank of captain in the Army.

He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army within the aviation branch and reported July 25 to Fort Rucker, Ala., for his first assignment.
