Bedford VFW Post to sponsor benefits workshop

The Bedford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8401 is sponsoring a Veterans Benefits and Services Workshop for all interested area veterans. The workshop will be conducted by representatives from the Manchester Veterans Administration Medical Center from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Bedford Old Town Hall. VFW membership is not required to attend.

The workshop will feature program and service coordinators for the medical foster home and veteran-directed home and community-based services, suicide prevention, traumatic brain injury and polytrauma, mental health, human resources, and My HealtheVet. VA representatives will be on site to help with enrollment (the form “DD214 – Discharge from the Military” may help speed the process) and benefit claims.

Local veterans, family members and those interested in any of these programs and services are encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity for a question-and-answer time with the experts.

VFW representatives will be on hand to discuss local and national initiatives supporting the military, veterans and communities.
