Milford group in NH Choreographer’s Showcase

DERRY – The Southern New Hampshire Dance Youth Ballet will presents the New Hampshire Choreographer’s Showcase at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy.

The showcase is a collaboration of eight choreographers and five dances companies. Featured dance companies this year are Ballet Misha of Manchester, Benjamin Briones Ballet of New York City, Northern Ballet Theatre Youth Ensemble of Nashua, Saving Grace Dance Ensemble of Milford and Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet of Bedford.

This performance will feature a wide array of classical ballet and modern and contemporary dance from artists of local and national reputations.

The program consists of 10 original works choreographed and staged by various choreographers with highly acclaimed resumes as dancers, professionals and choreographers.

Saving Grace Dance Ensemble, a liturgical dance ensemble founded by director Robyn Goulette, will present a piece by guest choreographer Steve Rooks, a former dancer with The Martha Graham Dance Company.

Goulette has staged “Uplift,” a modern piece for the showcase this year. Her choreography credits include “The Prayer Basket,” which was chosen to perform opening night at the 2007 Regional Dance America’s National Festival in Pittsburgh.
