Souhegan Valley goes to the polls

Voters in Milford rejected a plan for a new town library, shot down the town budget and nixed a plan to remove gravel from an area of the Brox property.

In Amherst, voters approved the town budget but shot down a proposal to spend $28,000 on sidewalks for portions of four roads.

These results are according to information on both towns’ websites.

According to reports published in the Union Leader, Amherst voters also shot down the Souhegan and Amherst school districts’ budgets and rejected the latter’s proposal for full-day kindergarten by nearly 700 votes. They approved a replacement for the high school track.

But an Amherst plan to replace bridges on Thornton Ferry I and Mont Vernon Road easily passed, according to the town website.

In Amherst’s closest race, Lisa Eastland edged out Cynthia Dokmo for a seat on the Board of Cemetery Trustees, 1123-1118.

Amherst also granted selectmen pipeline intervener status.
