Police say Bennington man robbed Milford bank

MILFORD – A Bennington man was arrested Monday in connection with a mid-afternoon robbery of the Citizens Bank at Granite Town Plaza.

Jason B. Haney, 32, was charged with robbery (unarmed) and falsifying physical evidence, both class B felonies, and is being held at Valley Street jail in Manchester in lieu of $50,000 cash-only bail.

Police went to the bank at 173 Elm St. at 3:20 p.m. on March 23 on a report that a man had handed a teller a note demanding money and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, heading east.

No weapon was displayed, police say.

Police located Haney at the Xtra Mart convenience store on Elm Street and said they were able to positively identify him based on bank surveillance photos.

He was taken into custody without incident, and officers recovered an undisclosed amount of currency.

Haney was arraigned in Merrimack District Court on March 24 and bail was continued at $50,000 cash-only.

He is scheduled to appear in Milford District Court for probable cause hearing on April 7.
