Kitty Angels fundraiser to be held in Amherst

AMHERST – Treasures Antiques, Collectables & More will host its 21st annual Kitty Angels Fundraiser from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, May 2-3.

Kitty Angels, a no-kill cat shelter, has been the beneficiary of the events at Treasures, not only gaining much needed funds, but also getting quite a number of the countless felines in their care adopted into loving “forever homes.”

Kitty Angels is made up of unpaid volunteers and is dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned cats, furnishing them with treatment for injuries or other health issues, and then placing them into “forever homes” with compatible owners.

Donations to the nonprofit charitable corporation are fully tax-
deductible, and every penny of every donation is used in the caring of cats.

The 2014 event had 138 vendors who filled the grounds surrounding Treasures in a crafts, flea market, yard sale and county-fair type atmosphere complete with live entertainment. This year’s event will include members of the Amherst Animal Hospital on hand to answer your questions; the New England Brethren of Pirates, a
re-enactment and improv troupe; the “General Lee,” a Dodge Charger from “The Dukes of Hazzard”; and the “Son of Trigger,” a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo from “Smokey and the Bandit II.”

Back to the Garden will play from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, and another band to be determined will play Sunday. Nevajans’ Farm will bring a petting zoo suitable for all ages. In addition, there will be food vendors, artisans and crafters, yard sale items and more.

A large selection of prizes will be raffled off throughout the weekend and into June.

This annual fundraising event for Kitty Angels is the “pet” charity of Treasures owners Rick and Sherry Tobin. To date, their fundraising efforts have exceeded $50,000.

To make a donation through Treasures, send a check or money order made out to Treasures (with a note in your memo section: “Kitty Angels Inc.”). Mail your check to Treasures Antiques, Collectables & More, 106 Ponemah Road, Amherst, NH 03031.

Kitty Angels is also looking for postage stamps; cat food, both dry and canned; kitty litter – nonscoopable preferred, but any litter is good litter; medical supplies; bedding such as clean towels, blankets, quilts, clean denim and corduroy, and quilted bedspreads; carriers; cleaning supplies, including bleach, laundry detergent and paper towels; photocopy paper; cat toys and furniture; and trash bags.

Donations can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily at Treasures.

Vendor space is still available. A donation fee of $30 is all you need for an outdoor space, and will cover both days. For space, call Sherry at 566-9611.

The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, visit
