Local swimmers provide lift for Executive Club

Area swimmers competed in the New England Senior Championships over the summer at Brown University.

Lindsey Wagner won the 50-meter Freestyle (26.64), and finished second in the 100-meter Freestyle (58.62), as well as swim in the A final in the 100 meter Backstroke (1:04.79). Nina Levine also swam in the Championship final in the 200 Butterfly, placing fourth in 2:21.79, and qualifying her for the USA Swimming’s Futures meet. Alex Bedard of Amherst swam in the Championship final in the 100-meter Breaststroke (1:07.05). Also achieving evening finals were: Andrew Allen (100-meter Freestyle 54.11, 100-meter Butterfly 59.55, and 100-meter Breaststroke 1:11.17. Aidan Daudier of Milford(200-meter Backstroke, 2:13.42), Bella Geskos of Amherst (100 meter Breaststroke, 1:17.81), Logan Lamb (200 meter Butterfly 2:12.04), Jack Januario of Amherst (800 meter Freestyle, 8:50.77), Emma Schulman (50 and 100 meter Freestyle 27.59/1:00.29), and Mark Zoda of Nashua (50 (24.92)/100 meter Freestyle, and 100/200 meter Breaststroke 1:11.26/2:36.05). Also qualifying for the Executive were: Colin Allen, Addison Carder-Cannillo, Abby Carroll, Kyle Fraser-Mines, Trent Levasseur, Hana Marcianova of Amherst, Ava Rondeau of Nashua, Alexander Tjie, Kyra Chen of Amherst, Emma Wagner, Tess White of Mont Vernon, Katie Witkop, and Victoria Novinsky.

At Harvard University, in the 11-12 and 13-14 age groups. Jack Januario had a fantastic showing winning three events (400 Freestyle 4:14.92, 800 Freestyle 8:47.67, 1,500 Freestyle 16:51.35), and placing in six others, including the 200 and 400 meter Individual Medley (2:15.46/4:46.10). Kyra Chen had six finals appearances (50, 100, 200, and 400 meter Free) and qualified for USA Swimming Sectionals.

She also swam the 200 Individual Medley in 2:32.62. Hana

Marcianova finished fourth in the 50 meter Freestyle (27.81), and swam in finals of the 100 meter Freestyle (1:01.06), 200 meter Freestyle (2:14.86) and 100 meter Butterfly (1:08.59).

Mia Januario of Amherst had a podium finish in the 1500 Freestyle (19:46.18), and swam in eight other events. Victoria Novinskiy also swam in finals in the 100 meter Backstroke (1:09.77), 200 meter Backstroke (2:29.08), and 400 IM. She also dropped in the 200 Butterfly, 2:33.76. Also swimming for ESC were: Ava Rondeau (50/100/200/400/1500 Freestyle, 100/200 Backstroke (1:10.48/2:32.91), Saige Murphy (200 Butterfly), Bella Foroohar (50 meter Butterfly), Katie Witkop (100 Breaststroke, 1:21.75, and also 100 Butterfly, 200 Ind. Medey, and 200 Breaststroke, and Emily Richardson (100 and 200 Backstroke). Alexa Leary and Kylie Donoghue, both of Amherst, as well as Eliza Lamont competed on Relay events.

The Executive was also represented in three Championship meets held outside New England. Competing in the USA Swimming Futures meet in Geneva, Ohio, from August 3-6 were Emma Schulman, (2 best times, 100 Backstroke 1:09.38, and 100 Butterfly 1:06.89, and finals appearance), Mark Zoda, (best time 100 Free 54.70, qualifying in three events), and Nina Levine (three events),.Tess White (best time 100 Backstroke), and Kyle Fraser-Mines (best time 50 Free), also represented the team. The Futures meet is one step below Junior Nationals, and only three are held throughout the country.

Lindsey Wagner competed in the U.S. Open, the fastest in the country this season taking place in East Meadow, N.Y. Wagner swam in both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke.

Jack Januario, represented the New England Team for the Eastern Zone Championships, and fastest throughout the Eastern Zone side of the country, held in Richmond, Virginia from August 9-12. Januario won the 1500 Freestyle, and swimming best times in the 200 IM and 200 Free, and placing in the top eight in all six events. His efforts and high places helped New England win the meet or the first time ever.
